Our management team combines international data privacy expertise with local KVKK practice. We believe compliance should be clear, efficient and tailored to business realities — and that the fastest way to get there is to work from the primary instruments rather than from someone else’s summary of them. How it all started

The practice was founded on a straightforward conviction: businesses deserve clear, reliable guidance in navigating data protection law, and they are rarely given it.

Advising multinational clients on KVKK, GDPR and other privacy regimes, we kept meeting the same failure in two forms. Either the advice was theoretically impeccable and operationally useless, or the support was fragmented — a notice here, a contract there, nothing that added up to a defensible position.

gdpr.com.tr was created to close that gap. We combine international experience with detailed knowledge of Türkiye’s regulatory framework to deliver work that is legally sound and operationally survivable.

The published library came out of the same instinct. We needed a reliable working text of Law No. 6698 in both languages for our own files, so we built one: the Authority’s English set against the binding Turkish, article by article, amendments intact. We needed to answer the question “how far is this from what we already do?” often enough that we built the Atlas to answer it. Both are now open on this site, because a consultancy that will not show you its sources is asking you to take its conclusions on faith.

Today we support domestic and international companies across VERBİS registration, compliance programmes, cross-border transfer strategy and breach response. What distinguishes the practice is the ability to hold strict legal requirements and business objectives in the same document.

Alexander F. Hanyaloğlu

Co-founder · Data privacy, compliance, IT and competition law

Alexander is a co-founder of gdpr.com.tr and a lawyer specialising in data privacy, compliance, IT law, competition law and legal technology. He edits the firm’s editions of Law No. 6698 and of the By-Law on the transfer of personal data abroad, which carry the Personal Data Protection Authority’s English translations, and the Knowledge Centre.

Before establishing gdpr.com.tr, he practised at a top-tier international firm, advising leading Turkish and multinational companies on data privacy and compliance — from designing and executing compliance projects and transfer frameworks through to day-to-day advisory work.

He has led several large-scale data privacy projects for Turkish Fortune 500 and international companies. His sector experience spans automotive, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, insurance, banking, finance, real estate, energy, technology, retail and construction.

Through gdpr.com.tr he continues to help businesses operating in or targeting Türkiye achieve compliance that is legally sound, practical and aligned with what the business is actually trying to do.

Yaşar Janberk Bilir

Co-founder · Litigation, corporate law and compliance

Janberk is a co-founder of gdpr.com.tr and a lawyer specialising in litigation, corporate law and compliance. He advises clients on resolving disputes, managing regulatory risk and structuring operations for legal security — including the contentious end of data protection, where a Board decision has to be appealed or a data subject claim defended.

Before establishing gdpr.com.tr, he practised as an independent attorney, representing companies and individuals in complex commercial disputes and compliance matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on corporate governance and managing high-stakes litigation.

He has acted for clients across technology, finance, healthcare, construction and retail, with a consistent focus on practical outcomes that balance legal requirements against business realities.

Through gdpr.com.tr he provides strategic advice and representation, helping businesses safeguard operations and resolve disputes while supporting long-term growth.
